Sep 30 2022 John’s September Review: Super September!
This month was packed with disciple-making opportunities! First, my friend Dr. Paul Weaver is an associate professor in the Bible Exposition department at Dallas Theological Seminary and host of the podcast Bible and Theology Matters. We recorded two great conversations on Ministering to Professional Athletes and talking about the Four Priorities of Disciple-Making. Check them out on any streaming platform!
Next, I had the opportunity to spend a weekend at Union 3 Baptist Church in Gaston, Alabama as part of their Super September series. I spoke to their men on Saturday night and preached on Sunday. Here’s a video of it!
I was interviewed as a guest on a radio program out of Houston called MaxOut Savings where host, Ted Geoca, gives live weekly commentary on the markets and the world on his call-in show every Saturday at 10:00 am on 1070 AM. We talked about my “Game Plan for Growing Old!”
And last but not least, St. Phillips Episcopal church in Frisco, TX hosted a Disciple-Making Summit where I was able to teach 36 men, including 3 rectors and denominational leaders from around the country. The opportunity to impact the Episcopal denomination with the message of disciple-making is a huge deal that I’ve been working on for a long time. This was a wonderful breakthrough opportunity to do that!
THE GATHERING OF MEN
The Gathering of Men was this month and it was such a great time together. There were quite a few new faces (and a lot of old ones, too)! Ha! This series, despite being only 2 weeks, was the highest number of sign-ups we’ve experienced since pre-Covid. Since numbers represent men hearing the Gospel, that encourages me and I hope it does you, too! I am grateful to men who faithfully serve, sign up, and bring men each week!
