Mar 22 2016 “It’s Friday, but Sunday’s Comin’!”

I like good news!  Don’t you?  There is a lot of bad news hitting us every day….that’s just part of life on the planet.

I want to share a story with you a dear friend passed along to me…hang on!

My friend, who is a white preacher, was preaching in a black church in Philadelphia where it’s real easy to know if you are preaching well or not.  If you are bringing it and getting the job done, people yell, “Preach, brother!  Preach!  Preach!”  If you aren’t doing so well, you hear “Help him, Lord!  Help him!”

It was Good Friday and my buddy began to preach.  He gave it his all and then sat down next to a black preacher and said to him, “Pastor, are you going to be able to top that?”  The old man smiled and said, “Son, you just sit back ’cause this old man is going to do you in!”

For one and a half hours the old man preached and kept the crowd on the edge of their seat with one, short line, “It’s Friday, but Sunday’s comin’!”

He started his sermon real softly by saying, “It was Friday, and my Jesus was dead on that tree.  But that was Friday, and Sunday’s comin’!”

It was Friday, and Mary was cryin’ her eyes out.  The disciples were runnin’ in every direction, like sheep without a shepherd, but that was Friday, and Sunday’s comin’!”

He kept going, louder now!  “It was Friday.  The cynics were lookin’ at the world sayin’, ‘As things have been so they shall be.  You can’t change anything.’  But those cynics didn’t know it was only Friday.  And Sunday’s was comin’!”

“It was Friday, and on Friday Pilate thought he had washed his hands of a lot of trouble.  The Pharisees were struttin’ around, laughin’ and pokin’ each other in the ribs.  They thought they were back in charge of things.  They didn’t know that it was only Friday!  But Sunday’s comin’!”

For an hour and a half he kept repeating the phrase, “It’s Friday, but Sunday’s comin’!”
“It’s Friday, but Sunday’s comin’!”

Finally at the end of his message he yelled at the top of his lungs, “IT’S FRIDAY!”

All 500 people yelled back with one accord, “BUT SUNDAY’S COMIN’!”

So what’s your life been like lately?
Lot of bad news?
Lot of pain and disappointment?
Lot of heartache and tears?

You want some Good News?
You need some Good News?

COME SUNDAY, THE TOMB WAS EMPTY!!!
He got up from the dead!

John 14:19 Jesus said, “–because I live, you will live also.”

Think about it……
1.  Does the LIVING JESUS live in you?
2.  What need or situation would you like Jesus to impact in your life?  Tell Him!
