Don’t be a Moocher in The Faith

Aug 01 2025 Don’t be a Moocher in The Faith

Don’t be a moocher in the faith. A moocher is someone who sits back, enjoys all the benefits of being in a relationship with Jesus, but doesn’t give anything back. I’m not talking about giving money either. I’m talking about giving your story. Bearing witness to the benefits you’ve received from being in a relationship with Jesus. It takes a little time, some action, and a few words. When you take the time to act in the moment and tell your story (aka share the gospel), you’ll stop mooching and start giving.

In Matthew 4:19, Jesus called his first disciples. He said, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” He’s not talking about fishing for fish– No, but to fish for people. That was his first call-to-action to his disciples. Just before Jesus ascends into Heaven, he gives part of his final charge to the disciples. He said, “…you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth” (Acts 1:8).

A witness is someone who has experienced something and then they simply tell others what they experienced. If you’ve experienced a relationship with Jesus, then you have all you need. You may need to practice telling it or even write it down to condense the main points. But I promise you– everything you need to be a witness is already part of you. You just need to share it!

All you got to do is give a summary of:
1. How you came to know Jesus,
2. What he’s doing in your life,
3. Why it’s important to you, and
4. Why your friend ought to consider Him.

Remember, all I’m asking is that you communicate – or be a witness to – what Jesus has done in your life. Communicate your story. Point people to the good news, the gospel of all creation. Warmly in Him,
